Mdina is a city in Malta that has had people living in it since the 8th century bc. It was also a filming location for kings landing in Game of Thrones, so let's explore!
Mdina is a castle-like city of white bricks. It has huge gates, lots of cute little corridors, and delicious (though expensive) ice cream shops. The city has lots of beautiful painted doors so if you're someone who likes taking pictures of doors (like my mom) you’ll love it here. For those of you who are more like me, it's still worth a visit though I wouldn’t put it at the top of my to-see list.
There are several cathedrals that have beautiful architecture and for those of you who love spooky stuff, it has a dungeon! The city has very charming restaurants and a beautiful view of the city beyond. You can see all the way to the ocean and the fields and towns beyond. The city is surrounded by huge brick walls that give it a majestic grace, making you really feel like you’re going back in time.
The city is quite pricey with very expensive shops and restaurants. Just outside the walls of the city, however, there are plenty of restaurants with more reasonably priced food. I recommend going on a weekday during the evening because, at that time of day, it's a lot less crowded.
For kids, the city has a few fun aspects. There are long downhill roads that me and my brothers loved scootering down. I definitely recommend bringing scooters or skateboards for your kids. There are a few higher platforms you can run up and jump off which are super fun.
